New Home Construction Inspections

Considering building a custom home or buying a
home from one of the many known Builders? If so, you should consider obtaining an independent Inspector to
perform periodic inspections of your home throughout the building process. Many Counties in Texas require a minimum
three phase inspection for all new home construction. These would include;
1. A Foundation Inspection
2. A Frame Inspection
3. A Final Inspection
Real Horizons is well equipped to provide you the minimum number of
inspections as required in some counties to anywhere between 7 to 10 inspections. We recommend that more than
3 inspections should be performed during the building process to more thoroughly cover, in detail, the
progress of your new home's construction and offers the opportunity of remediating deficiencies before they get to
the point of being uncorrectable or "Built in". We perform a Pre-Pour, Pour day inspection, Rough Frame,
Mechanical, Electrical, Insulation, and Final. Oftentimes, we will go to your site more than stated above for
purposes of assuring that deficiencies that were reported have been corrected.
All inspections over the minimum 3 includes up to 3 hours of
consultation with recommendations as to how to build your home "Energy Free". Incorporating these recommendations
while in the building process is the best way to go and will reward you with significantly
lower potential energy costs. You will also be provided with a copy of Bryon Parffrey's book 'Building
Energy FFFRee Homes' as a personal guide to assist you. Mr. Parffrey is a well known Builder, Educator,
Author and owner of Builders Academy, a well recognized school for Inspectors and those wishing to build homes for
themselves or to pursue as a business. As always, regardless of which way you go, you will receive a written
report with a FREE photo album of all deficiencies that you may bring to the attention of your
builder/contractor.
Why use an Independent Inspector? The answer is that you will have an
Inspector that is working in your best interests. While many builders will tell you they have their own Inspectors,
be aware that those Inspectors work for the builder, not you. In situations that require a city inspector, be
advised that those inspectors are usually swamped with inspections, as many as 5 to 10 per day. At most, they will
be on your site for 15 to 20 minutes.
